Katherine Kelliher and Tania Miller of Kelliher Miller Architects
SONAS Bathrooms are delighted to welcome Kelliher Miller Architects as Speakers at house 2019.
Katherine Kelliher and Tania Miller are partners at Dublin-based Kelliher Miller Architects, which specialises in sustainable, contemporary design. Also conservation specialists, the firm has lots of restoration projects under its belt. Both Katherine and Tania are certified passive house designers so they use these standards in all areas - making sure that a space uses as little energy as possible. As well as residential projects they have worked on various commercial projects such as the refurbishment of Etsy’s head office in Dublin.
Having graduated with honours from DIT Bolton Street, Katherine has worked in Hong Kong and Lesotho as well as in Ireland. Tania is a UCD graduate and has worked in Barcelona, Madrid, the UK and Ireland. Their most recent project is a lot closer to home, however - they worked on a critically acclaimed regeneration study of Dorset Street in Dublin city centre, putting together ideas and concepts that will breathe new life into the street.
The team - who are SONAS Bathrooms ambassadors - will be a speak on the at house and will lend their expertise to help people create the bathroom of their dreams. From the initial planning stages, they will cover all bases - whether you’re starting from scratch with a new build or carrying out a renovation.
Where should you position your bath in relation to your hand basin and toilet? What should you be thinking of in terms of lighting, colours and heating? Kelliher Miller will offer advice and tips that will make the process a whole lot easier. So whether you’re creating a wet room, a master ensuite, a family bathroom or a cloakroom under your stairs, their expertise will guide you along the way.
Katherine Kelliher said: “Both myself and Tania are certified passive house designers so whether someone is building a passive house or not, we like to implement best practice into our designs to ensure that they’re as economical and environmentally sound as possible.”
She added: “Bathroom design can be challenging for home owners. With so many products to choose from it can be difficult to make the right choices. Limitations on space and restrictions imposed by plumbing requirements are typical problems faced by our clients.
With a bit of consideration at design stage these problems can be overcome and result in a stylish well designed functional space.”
Katherine and Tania will be speaking at house 2019 May 24 to 26 in the RDS
