FRAZZLED parents can breathe a sigh of relief as an Irish company has taken on one of the most arduous tasks - potting training toddlers.
SONAS Bathrooms has set up BBB - Baby Bathroom Bootcamp - and is offering the camp for half price for parents who buy one of their state of the art toilets.
“It seemed like a no brainer for us,” CEO Dermot Usher said. “Potty training is possibly one of the most head wrecking jobs a parent has to do, and we take the hassle out of it. We’re passionate about toilets and we’ll make sure your toddler is too.”
As well as teaching kids the basics of going to the toilet unaided, SONAS has guaranteed that all children will leave the camp knowing the basics in toilet etiquette.
Dermot explained: “After taking our intensive course, there’ll be no more leaving up the toilet seats and we’ll be focusing on the boys for this one. We’re hoping that by 2025, we’ll have eradicated rows about leaving up the toilet seats in Irish homes. Now that’s life changing and something we’re super excited to be a part of.”
The idea for the Baby Bathroom Bootcamp came from speaking to anxious parents in the new SONAS Bathrooms showrooms.
Dermot explained: “Toddlers are naturally drawn to toilets anyway - they love getting up close and diving right in, so to speak, and we’ve seen that first hand in our showroom. The thing is, toddlers generally tend to be more interested in fishing for things in the toilet or even drinking from them, so we just decided something had to change.”
“We are fostering a real respect for toilets in toddlers and our expertly trained staff guarantee that attendees will be accident free and totally potty trained after our three-day intensive courses. It’s amazing really and parents who’ve sent their kids to us are delighted with how well things have gone.”
SONAS is also considering offering training for grownups on toilet use. “Things are going so well with the kids that we’ve had queries from women about offering training for their partners on toilet seat use, proper aim into the toilet bowl and use of the toilet brush. It’s something we’d definitely consider,” Dermot said.
The BBB camp from SONAS skips the potty completely and participants - from age 2.5 upwards - go straight to the toilet.
The three-day course costs €1000 but is currently half price for anyone who purchases a rimless toilet from the SONAS Bathrooms range.
“It may seem a bit expensive,” said Dermot, but when you think of the money you’ll save in nappies and jellies used to bribe kids to go to the toilet and the heartache you’ll save from having to do it yourself, it really does offer great value. It’s priceless really.”
